We’re thrilled to welcome Grammy nominee Brady Rymer as a guest Dads Dig This blogger. He’s one of our favorite family music artists whose new album “Love me for who I am” is just out!

If you’re on the lookout for a trusted place to discover new music–music that’s usually outside of the norm and not necessarily what’s commercially successful–then you should check out one of my favorite apps, the NPR Music app.

From their bi-weekly podcast that keeps you in the know with what’s happening in rock, folk and the alternative scene to their lively blogs that offer a new song a day, I’m always finding something unique and interesting to listen to with this cool music app.

You’ll also find archived live concerts (video and audio) and regular streams of entire new albums for a first listen. Just last month, they broadcast live from the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, where they streamed five live concerts a night from the likes of Emmylou Harris. It was amazing how much of the festival I was able to experience without even being there.

There’s so much good music being produced these days that it can be hard to weed out the best; this app steers me to the cream of the crop. Think of it like having a record store in your phone or on your computer. The only problem–I want to buy it all! -Brady
