And even better, it’s free!
The new Sunrise calendar app for iPhone does one of the best jobs I’ve seen of combining functionality and style, which means you get everything you might have loved of some of the prettier calendar apps but with all the practical applications.
Once you sync up your Google Calendar, you’ll see that the top half of the app has your full month calendar that you can easily reduce down to two weeks with an easy swipe. This then allows you to see more of your weekly calendar.
You can easily see your day’s events in this format, or click on it for more information, which also allows you to edit the event if you so choose. Then scroll up or down to see previous or future days, which is a super intuitive action given how much we scroll using apps like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
Adding events is quite simple, and allows you to set location, time zone, and even invite others, a feature you don’t usually see with a free app. And even better, the app syncs with your location to provide you with the weather (love this), and if you’ve added a map or other attendees, their avatar as well as Google Map directions will pop up on your event page.
Now you should know that you need to login in with Facebook, which I’ll admit is usually a turn-off for me, but if you can get past that one feature, you’ll love everything else you find. Also know that it will give you an automatic sync with all your Facebook events and birthdays, which I personally don’t like having in my calendar (I have a lot of Facebook friends!)–but you can easily turn that off in your settings, as well as set which calendars you’d like to have viewed.
If you’ve been searching for the perfect calendar app, then I’d say give Sunrise a try. And heck, it’s free, so what have you got to lose? –Kristen
