Scratch Hard: An app to help you save money shopping. And it’s fun. Like shopping.

Scratch Hard deals shopping app on Cool Mom Tech I’m all about saving money, but don’t really have time to scour through the Sunday circulars for coupons. And while there are a slew of coupon/deal apps out there for finding local savings, I found another one that you might want to add to your arsenal of shopping apps.

Scratch Hard (yes, funny name) is a fun app for iOS that consolidates deals in your area and notifies you about sales and specials that you should know about before hitting the store. Whether it’s $5 off a $50 or more purchase, a weekend blowout on jeans, or 20% off swimwear, Scratch Hard finds it for you at big name retailers and even smaller shops in your area.

If you want to narrow down the choices, you can also search by category, or distance. And you can share the deals with friends, or just map them out, create a shopping route and save them for yourself.

I’m also glad to see that you can log in with an email address and not just through Facebook which increasingly, a lot of readers are telling us they’re not into.

Now be aware that the offers provided aren’t exclusive to the app and you could probably find the same deals looking online or when entering the store. But for shopping planners, this is a smart tool for organizing your purchases.

As for the fun part about Scratch Hard–and the reason for the name–there are some fun colorful graphics that pop up when you’re accessing a deal, making you “scratch” at the image to get to what’s behind it, lottery ticket style. Nice feature that makes it stand out and gives you one more reason to smile while saving a few bucks. Besides, the app claims that the more you “scratch,” the better the offer. So that alone could make it worth it to give this one a shot for a bit. -Jeana

The Scratch Hard app is available for free from iTunes.
