Tomorrow may be Cyber Monday, but it’s also World AIDS Day. Which means it’s an awesome opportunity to do some extra good when you shop, and at one of our favorite places too, the Apple store.

All this week through December 7, Apple will donate a portion of the proceeds from every iPad, iPod, iPhone, MacBook and more to the Global Fund. But you may have already seen a preview of what they’re up to, if you love apps like The Human Body, Threes, Angry Birds, and Toca Town. They’ve all turned red–actual red–for (RED).

But Apps for (RED) is about much more than the color of the graphics. When you buy one of the participating apps or grab an in-app purchase, 100% of the proceeds will go to the Global Fund. That’s pretty huge, considering how many super popular apps are taking part in this cause.

Another thing I love is that a lot of the participating apps are ones that our kids (and I) already dig, like Monument Valley, Minion Rush, the wonderfully educational StarWalk 2 app and even Cut the Rope 2. So when my own kids asked about the color change, it was a great opportunity to talk with them about World AIDS Day and how many people around the world are being helped by (RED).

Such a cool way to remember that this is a season of giving. Oh, and to feel good about taking a little down time to play. Pow! I got you, green pigs. AIDS, you’re next.

Check out all the Apps for (RED) on the App Store, benefiting the Global Fund through 12/7/14.
Also note that a portion of all Apple Store purchases on 12/1 both online and in store will support (RED)
