A smart handbag you unlock with a fingerprint? Want!

When I think of a smart handbag, my mind goes to looks. But in the case of the FYB London Smart Handbag, billed as “the world’s smartest handbag,” it’s a combo of chic designer styling and useful technology that land it on my covet list. First of all, it’s got a biometric lock. As in, you can only unlock the bag iPhone style, with your fingerprint. If that’s not like the best ever bag for NYC subway commuting, I don’t know what is. On top of that, there’s a wireless charging pocket to keep your phone charging on the go and a...

Got internet trolls? Troll Cakes kill them with sweetness.

I can’t stop laughing at this concept: It’s called Troll Cakes and yes, it’s real. The premise is that you send Brooklyn baker Kat Thek any hateful message you’ve received — Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat — and they will send them a cake with their own words written on it. They’ll even track them down for you if possible, for a fee. Let the let them eat cake jokes fly! Of course while the idea is hilarious, I’m not sure I have the pressing need to send a pricey cake to the next no-life troll who fills his days writing MOM’S R STUPID COWS on social media....

The new Polaroid Snap Touch with LCD: Is this insta-digital hybrid camera worth it?

After spending some time playing around with the new Polaroid Snaptouch ($179.99 from our affiliate Amazon) that we were sent for review, I think it’s a fun little camera for a family — especially with road trips, summer camp, and more outdoor time ahead. That said, there are a few caveats I want to offer. It didn’t take too long for my 9 year old to figure out how to use the touch screen to take, save or trash a photo; then play around with digital effects like borders, type, and a few sticker options before printing. And showing off...

Big (real) news! Fake news gets easier to spot with the new Google Fact Check

It seems like an April Fool’s joke (and yes, I double checked the date on the post) but at long last, Google is taking moves to quash fake news with a new Fact Check feature in Google Search and Google News, worldwide. So basically, Google Fact Check is not itself fake news. That’s a relief. According to the recent post on the Google blog, publishers can now enable a “Fact Check” tag in Google News which will mark as news those articles that have been fact-checked by publishers and respected fact-checking organizations, like Politifact,  FactCheck.org and Snopes. It even includes fact-check sites like Climate...

I Am Groot! That’s Groot speak for, I am here to charge your phone.

With the geeks among us getting excited for the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premiere in just one month and one day (and yes, I’m counting shut up), I figured I wouldn’t be the only one dying to reconnect with Baby Groot once again. Especially in the form of this completely wonderful Baby Groot USB car charger. No he doesn’t sound like Vin Diesel, but he is sound-activated (Peter Quill would suggest The Pina Colada song) so he’ll dance around in your cup holder while charging your phone. Plus the geniuses at Think Geek who designed him even knew to include two charging ports. Because the...

Beware of this fake Netflix phishing email scam! It looks incredibly real.

Phishing cons are getting increasingly sophisticated, as even my tech-savvy boyfriend and I did a double take at this Netflix phishing email — before realizing it was complete crap. The goal, as with most phishing emails: To get you to provide your personal info, password, and ideally your credit card numbers to “reinstate” your account. Here’s how to figure out if your Netflix email is real or not. Now, many phishing emails are as hilariously identifiable as frauds, like this one we received this week directly from “Marc Zucenberg,” via an email domain @server194.web-hosting.com. Because “Marc Zucenberg” doesn’t use Facebook email — and...
