One of our favorite travel apps just got a whole lot better thanks to a new feature that tells you exactly when to leave for the airport to ensure you’ve got enough time to drive, park, check-in and get to the gate. Basically, Tripit is making it really hard for you to miss your flight, and for that, we’re thankful. Related: 6 smart travel apps to help you save money. Tripit already does so much to make traveling easier — whether it’s for business or pleasure — but their new “Go Now” feature makes it a whole lot easier....Read More
There have been plenty of times I’ve been stuck with a low charge on my smart phone or tablet, especially when I’m traveling, and have used one of those public charging ports to juice my device up again. Well, you might want to skip those because from what we’ve learned in this new CNN report, they’re a simple way for hackers to access your data. Yikes! Related: A new portable charger that backs up your data too As you probably already know, the cords you use to charge your devices also transfer information as well, so when you think you’re...Read More

If you’re booking travel for the holidays, or even next year for spring break or summer vacation, you’ll want to check Google Flights for finding the best flight and rate, straight off the bat. What’s so great about Google Flights is the flexibility and the ability to save trips and get alerts on price changes in the hopes that you can get the best deal possible. Simply visit the website or mobile-friendly version on your phone (no dedicated app yet which is surprising), and do a search for any route. I tested it out and found that there are several options from...Read More
My family will be taking a trip to Seoul, South Korea, in the next couple months, and I’m a little overwhelmed trying to plan our itinerary. Pinterest is somewhat helpful, but there’s a lot of link bait to wade through. That’s why I was so pleased to discover Google Trips app. Google Trips is a dashboard for all your trip info, with everything from your flight and hotel reservations, to that awesome restaurant your friend said you had to try. It’s all available offline too, so if you land in the city and don’t have WiFi, you can still get your hotel info for...Read More
When I imagined the future, I definitely saw little robots following us all around, perhaps sweeping up our crumbs and reminding us where we left our coffee. So, while the COWAROBOT doesn’t do those things, it does follow you around with your luggage, which is a frequent traveler’s dream. And a parent’s dream too. The COWAROBOT technology is pretty stacked, with a sensor that helps it avoid obstacles in its way, even managing pretty steep and uneven terrain, though I’m not exactly sure when you’d be walking around with luggage in say, a forest. But hey, you could be Amy Adams in Leap...Read More
We just returned from a family vacation to Italy, and boy do I wish I had discovered the Rome2rio app before our trip. It could have saved us countless moments trying to decide the best way to get around the various sites with three kids, with the least amount of aggravation. What I love about this app for both iOS and Android is that it quickly and neatly lists the best options from getting from “point A” to “point B”. Before heading out on your trip, you can use the handy website to help plan out the routes you’d like to...Read More
Let’s just say that on our recent vacation, I had absolutely no trouble finding my son’s suitcase at baggage claim because it’s pretty hard to miss R2D2. Whether your kids are Star Wars fans or it’s you who is obsessed, you’ll want to check out the Star Wars luggage from American Tourister. We’ve used the R2D2 suitcase for a few trips now, and I have to say that I’m impressed with how well it has held up, not just in giving us tons of room (yay extender zipper) in a carry-on sized bag but also in terms of all the...Read More
Summertime is the perfect time for the kids and I to explore nearby Boston–hey, we need to do that Freedom Trail someday, right?–but, oy, do I hate driving around looking for parking. So, when a well-traveled friend told me that she’d found a simple-to-use app called SpotHero that helps her line up parking ahead of time, at big discounts, in almost any large US city she finds herself, I was intrigued. Intrigued, and excited, because with SpotHero, I am ready to hit the road without worrying about where I’m going to leave my car even on the busiest days, or how much money it’s...Read More
