As part of our fitness resolutions, Julie Marsh (our awesome VP of Operations) and I have been training for a series of races this year. So imagine how excited we were when Disney Sports invited us to participate in the newest race: The Tinkerbell Half Marathon.

Along with tapering our runs and finishing up our costumes (they’re hilarious), we’re also on the lookout for some cool tech gadgets and apps to help make our experience extra smooth.

Here are three fitness gadgets that we’ll definitely have on us during the race, that can make any runner’s journey smoother.

1. Garmin Forerunner 410

I snatched up the Garmin Forerunner 410 sports watch over the holidays during a big Amazon sale and I don’t leave the house without it. Compared to the other models out there which can be a bit bulky, I think this size really works well for women. And I love having all my data, like pace, time, as well as heart rate (thanks to the heart monitor), all in one place.

2. Armpocket

I won’t be listening to music during the race, but I do like to have my phone with me for safety reasons and photo opps along the way. My friend (and running guru) Sarah Bowen Shea of Another Mother Runner highly recommends the Armpocket, which not only fits your phone but a couple of running gels as well. And when she swears that it doesn’t jiggle or chafe no matter how far you run, I believe her.

3. Race Pace

Since I’ve got my trusty Garmin, I don’t necessarily need to collect data during the race, but I will definitely be using Race Pace before and after to help me determine my pace based on my goal. Another geeky benefit: It can also predict your pace for future races at various distances, which can be a huge motivator for getting you to sign up for your next race.

What running gadgets can’t you live without?

And if you’ll be participating in the Tinkerbell race, let us know so we can look for you! Thanks to Disney Sports for providing us with complimentary race entries and accommodations. We hope to do you proud!

  1. I love the Runkeeper app for iPhone. I used it during my first half-marathon a few years ago and still use it for all of my runs. The verbal cues are great and the data is stored online/can be shared with your friends or training partners.
