I do my best to turn off light switches and turn down our thermostat, especially on our other floors at night and when we’re out of the house. But that’s only when I remember. Which, as a busy mom, is not as often as it should be. That’s why I was intrigued by this new thermostat that actually does all the remembering for you.
The Nest Learning Thermostat is apparently as easy to install as a light bulb, and once it learns your typical settings after about a week, it does all the thinking for you. Meaning it turns down your temps at night or when you’re out of the house, and keeps it at the temperatures you like. The Nest also learns your schedule, adjusting temperatures on its own based on when you tend to do them yourself. And if you change them twice in a row, it’ll do it the next day on its own without you having to do a thing.
Even better, it encourages better heating and cooling habits, which can actually go miles in saving you in energy and money. Sign me up.

My husband has been drooling over this for months!
I got my Nest last week and though it was not *quite* as easy to install as a lightbulb, I did manage to get it in on my own. (Much to the amazement of my children!)
My favorite feature is being able to change the temp from my iPhone or iPad – in bed or even out at dinner. The Nest is learning my preferences quickly, but hey, a girl is still entitled to change her mind now and then, right?
