We’ve all been there. Staring at an out-of-date PC tower, trying to figure out what to do with twenty pounds of useless technology that was top-of-the-line three years ago. But Italian designer Paolo Mirai has a great new way to use your old circuit boards: as jewelry.

The Cirkuita line of jewelry features technological remnants trapped forever in the form of rings, bracelets, brooches, or cuff links. The technological gem captured in each piece might have come from an old
Canon camera, a clock, an Apple hardboard, a keyboard, some film, an
inkjet cartridge, or– my favorite descriptor– a noisy pet toy.
In addition to the luscious pictures of one-of-a-kind pieces, you can also enjoy the artist’s descriptions of her creations, which have a sort of poetry about them: From a male sunset, a new female dawn that vibrates with electrical memories.
On your wrist, natch.
The prices are in Euros and, well, pricey. But if you have a thing for one-of-a-kind artisan jewelry, there’s just something fascinating about broken tech captured and preserved like mosquitoes in amber. Or resin? Though from far away, it looks like Murano glass. Just far less breakable. And with cogs.
