After saying a bittersweet goodbye to summer, I’m ready to embrace autumn and its warm sweaters, crunching leaves, and apple-cider donuts. Especially the donuts. And I am so pleased to share a new song by Joanie Leeds and the Nightlights that echoes my love for this season in a totally free download you’ll want to grab.

Falling kicks off with a gentle ukulele lead, as if we’re walking away from the beachy days of summer. But Joanie Leeds’ crisp, clear voice and the lively addition of the rest of the band turn this pretty pop song into a celebration of autumn.

I especially love the chorus which sings, I’m fa-a-a-lling for autumn. It reminds me of how the leaves will soon be fluttering one-by-one off the trees. And of my kids dropping, one-by-one, into every pile they can find. –Christina
