We’re not ashamed to let our Soundfreaq fan flag fly. We definitely dig what they’re doing over there, matching style with audio substance, and its latest wireless Bluetooth speaker delivers on that promise. The new speaker is called the Soundfreaq Double Spot and it’s a doubly cool evolution of their Soundstep Sound Spot speaker that came out last year.
First it’s the look: we’re talking sleek, mid-century modern. Paging Frank Lloyd Wright! Then there’s that award-winning, high-quality audio that we’ve come to expect from their products, that makes all our music eminently listenable. It’s not reported to have quite the quality of the Sound Platform 2 which is for more serious audiophiles, but then it’s got a way prettier design and costs a bit less too.
This is not a house party speaker, but it is ideal for your home office; or stash it on a child’s bookshelf for audio books, or a little go-to-sleep music. Because the clean design works in practically any space it sits — kitchen counter, basement shelf, bedroom nightstand, living room coffee table.
One option for those of you looking for portability: You can add a pre-installed six-hour battery for an additional 20 bucks that gives you more listening time without a charge. Or if you keep it plugged in, use the USB power port to you keep your devices (iOS, Android, whatever your flavor) charged while you’re jamming with your Soundfreaq Double Spot.
I’m dying to say this sounds like music to my ears. Oops–just did.
Soundfreaq Double Spot Bluetooth speaker comes in black or wood with white, and it’s available on Soundfreaq for $129. The portable version is $149.
