These days, you can’t swing a USB cable a foot without knocking over at least 40 different Bluetooth wireless speakers. And that’s just the good ones. Thanks to Cool Mom Tech, I’ve been lucky enough to try out a lot of these same speakers. Oh, the solo dance parties I’ve hosted! I’ve liked all the speakers we’ve opted to recommend, but this latest wireless speaker I tested is definitely a standout. It’s Sol Republic‘s brand new Sol Republic PUNK wireless speaker, and it rocks hard.
First, it’s super neat and compact, which means tossing it into a tote or carry-on bag is easy. And by toss, I do mean you can really pitch this thing. Don’t worry; it can take it. PUNK is pretty rugged. It’s water, shock, dirt, and dust resistant. And for parents, that usually translates to: It can face-off with my kids and still come out a winner.
But don’t let PUNK’s pint-size fool you. The sound it puts out is powerful and crisp. It can also play music wirelessly up to 60 feet away. So I took Sol Republic’s PUNK and my Beyoncé ***Flawless tour through my entire house without so much as a blip or skip in the sound transmission.
You can also opt to connect the tiny speaker to your home stereo using the line-in cable that comes in the box. Or purchase a third-party threaded mount and attach the small, square speaker to your bike handlebars for that true music-on-the-go vibe.
I also like the promise of eight hours of battery life from this ultra portable speaker, making this a swell little holiday gift for your favorite student or traveler. Eight hours, you say? Sounds like I might need to recharge before this PUNK will.
