Side table inspired by the look of app icons | Radice Orlandini Design Studio for Domitalia

I dug these end tables right away when I saw them on Design Milk  — vaguely mid-century lines, clean design, nice contrast between the natural wooden legs and the black or white top. Basically, my furniture style to a tee. Then I took a closer look and realized whoa, the tables are actually inspired by the shape of iOS app icons. Thus, you can see why it’s called the app side table, which in this case means applications (like Candy Crush), not appetizers (like candy).

(Okay, so candy is an appetizer in my world. Sometimes.)

One other way you definitely know the app table was made in this century: It even includes a hidden cable hole for making your lamp cord less obtrusive, or for charging a phone or tablet.

More likely, charging your phone or tablet. It is an app table after all. Irony.

Keep an eye out for the app side table designed by Radice Orlandini Design Studio for Domitalia. It doesn’t seem to be available yet, but you can find Domitalia furnishings at shops like YLiving and All Modern. We’ll update this post when it’s for sale!
