Warning: you’re about to seriously waste some time reliving your childhood. We’ve found the motherlode of retro computer games thanks to Classic Reload. They’ve collected and preserved more than 5,000 classic video games for future generations to play for free. It’s like a virtual museum of video games, from old arcade games like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Defender to the DOS and Windows games we played on repeat as a kid.
In other words: Yes, you can still die of dysentery on The Oregon Trail.

You can browse the site by computer model — did you have a Commodore 64 as a kid? Click on that tab to find all the old C64 games. Or, browse by category, from educational to puzzle games to role-playing games. You can also start by just searching your own childhood favorites, which for me was Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego along with trickier versions like Where in Time, to Where in America’s Past, even Where in Space.
Or maybe you’re a Dark Castle fan like Kristen. Remember winding your way through screen after screen of haunted castle, trying to find the Black Knight? My guess is, if there’s a game you played as a kid, they have it here.
I’m not saying they’ll give up Fortnite for good, but once you introduce your kids to Classic Reload they might get hooked on some of the best games of your own childhood too. A fun little treat for Father’s Day too.
