I come by my love all things kawaii starting with Hello Kitty back in the 1970s. And while I realize I’m too mature now (cough) to deck myself out entirely in Japanese pop-art accessories, a little cuteness keeps the stuffy out of being a grownup.

I’m totally digging the new Tokidoki headphones from Skull Candy. While I can’t wear them to the gym–because then I’ll never hear the intercom announcement that my kid’s got a poopy diaper at childcare–they’d be perfect for child-free travel or a cool gift for your favorite big kid. Pop these over your ears, crank that favorite playlist, and you won’t even notice the kid kicking the back of your seat.

And if you’ve got a sigOth like I do who listens to the game at a volume bordering the threshold of pain, you’ll probably get some use out of them at home too. Come to think of it, maybe I ought to get him a pair of his own. Boys can be kawaii too. -Julie
