Oh Appy Day! gives you the scoop on the coolest apps from some of the coolest people anywhere. This week, prolific author and journalist Anna Quindlen shares her faves.

It’s lame, but I couldn’t do without epicurious on my iPad.  I look in the fridge, figure out what isn’t past its sell-by date, then key in some ingredients and wait for a recipe to pop up that doesn’t require parchment paper or careful measuring.  (I know my limits.)  Chicken breasts, rosemary, rice–next thing I know, dinner is ready.

I also like an app called Pocket Pond.  It’s a koi pond for people who don’t want water or fish in the house. It sounds like how I imagine hallucinogens feel. –Anna

Oh Appy Day! Cool people sharing cool appsYou can find epicurious and Pocket Pond both free at the iTunes store. You can keep up with  author, journalist and decidedly cool mom Anna Quindlen on her website, and pick up her latest novel, Every Last One on Amazon or download for Kindle.
