With a European vacation in my family’s not too distant future (yippee!) I’m realizing we have become a lot more gadget-reliant since the last time I spent a good chunk of time abroad. It’s no longer just my hair dryer that needs an occasional plug-in with an adapter that can be borrowed from a hotel concierge.
(Seriously, you think I’d leave my iPad at home when traveling with kids?)
Fortunately I found a site that helps me know just what we’ll need.
I was so happy to discover that Flight 001, one of my favorite travel shops, has a nifty little resource right on its website to help you out in the travel adapter department. Type in the name of the country you’re headed, and they’ll point you to what you need. Then, you can sure you’re purchasing the right adapter from their 24 options in stock, including those for both non-grounded and grounded (or three-prong) appliances.
Of course armed with that knowledge you can then always shop around for cheaper adapters. But then you’d miss the perfect op to buy every other awesome travel thing in the shop that you know you’ll need. –Liz

I was given an all in one adapter/converter which is the best. I throw that in my carry-on and then I’m covered during layovers if necessary – useful if it’s the UK on my way to a different country (with a different outlet).
