Summer is just around the corner (finally!) along with fun, sun, and of course, cute little bodies in cute little bathing suits which make for plenty of photo opportunities. But there’s nothing like a big splash of water on your camera (or iPhone) to ruin the moment and have you scrambling to dry off your precious device.
Wouldn’t it be great if there was a camera that actually took high quality photos and was waterproof?
Kodak recently came out with a new line of completely waterproof digital cameras and waterproof video cameras that eliminate the worry of taking shots near water.
The Kodak EasyShare Sport Camera is a great little unit you can throw in your beach bag that takes HD quality pictures. While very affordable at under $80, it comes with all the bells and whistles that you’d expect from a digital camera, including 12 megapixels, a bright LCD monitor, different shooting modes, and the ability to view your photos on an HD TV.
The best part is that it’s totally waterproof, up to 10 feet, so you can get that shot of your daughter diligently working on her underwater handstand. What’s also cool about this camera is that it provides you with immediate access to your social networks, email, Flickr, and other sites. There’s a simple “Share” button on the camera that gives you one-button access to make your friends in colder climates jealous of your sunny vacation photos as they happen.
Isn’t waterproof technology grand? -Jeana
The Kodak EasyShare Sport Camera is available for $79.95 from the Kodak website and comes in cool gray, teal or red colors.
oh how wonderful! I am getting ready to set up the little pool in the backyard for the 15 month old and this will a great edition to safely take photos of him splashing about!! Thank you!
I was going to buy one of Fuji’s waterproof cameras until you guys posted this. I hate taking my dSLR down to the water when we’re on our beach vacation. Excess humidity and sand aren’t great for those cameras. Last year, I took our point-and-shoot but kept it in a plastic baggie and only took it out on occasion, preferring to keep it safe in the bag as I got sand in the sensor on the first day. I’ve just placed this on my To Buy before our vacation list. Now I won’t have the freak out.
(By the way? Plastic baggie + iPhone is a great way to take your iPhone down to the beach without worrying about sand. You can still do all of your sliding and dialing through the baggie without taking it out. It’s a great way to call your husband who hasn’t left the beach house yet to say that you forgot your… uh… beverages.)
I was thinking of buying the vtech Kidizoom for my son’s 3rd birthday, but this seems like a better option. He knows his way around the ipod touch really well. What do think cool moms?
