Every time I watch Sex and the City reruns (hold your judgments), I have to giggle at the gigantic cell phone Carrie pulls out of her bag. Technology has come so far since then, that I can only imagine how far it will go. And that’s just what this one designer did.

Take a look at Rollphone, Alexy Chugunnikov’s fascinating concept design for a cell phone of the future. It will feature a media center allowing you to watch movies, send emails, and play video games right in the palm of your hand. Literally. You’ll wear it like a cuff bracelet on your wrist and then pull out the phone into your hand to use it.

Pretty freaky, right? And probably not too far off. -Kristen

What do you think the cell phone of the future will look like?

  1. I don’t get it. I don’t see how that is an improvement over a current touch phone. Hands-free seems like the right direction, not tie-up-your-hand-completely.

How am I going to use that and carry something? If it slips off my fingers does it hang up?

What if I don’t want to wear a visible, ugly, chunky bracelet all the time?

Wouldn’t your hand get sweaty? And how is watching a video on that better than watching on a small screen?

I think the next big thing will be a device that is worn like sunglasses. How cool would it be to have a camera that works like that? Just look & shoot?

And if it could be light enough to function like a bluetooth does now? I’d love that.

  2. there’s NOTHING wrong with SATC reruns! I just commented on the gigantic “mobile” phones they used the other day! LOL (not to mention the endless smoking!!)
