My kids are squarely in the nightlight stage — old enough to sleep alone, old enough to hit the bathroom themselves at 3 AM, but not beyond waking me up when they need to go anyway. So I definitely get excited when I find creative nightlight designs like this one, spotted at Land of Nod.
This Candela style rocket ship nightlight by OXO looks like something my girls would adore. Keep it charged in the base, and then when you lift it out, the LED glows for up to 8 hours — no replacement bulbs needed.
All you have to do is tell your kids this rocket is programmed on a strict course between their own bed and the bathroom. No refueling stops in Mommy’s room allowed. –Liz

We have had this nightlight since Christmas of this year. This replaced a 5 year old MobiLight, which replaced 3 year old Candelas.
My 4 year old loves his rocket light! We turn it on around 8pm when he goes to bed. It doesn’t last the 12 hours he is asleep, but it lasts a good 5 hours. Then, if he does wake up, it will turn on for up to a minute if needed and continue to turn on when the button is pressed.
The base is just that, no plugs to put into the light. It turns on when lifted from the base and goes off when placed back on.
I don’t have enough time to list all the wonder that is the rocket light. I whole heartedly recommend it!
Oh, that’s awesome. 🙂 We have a rechargeable bird nightlight that my youngest daughter has taken to calling “chicken light.” I may need to replace it with rocket light!
