Even little kids know that bullies suck, though I applaud the compilation, Big Bully, for trying to help younger kids deal with the difficult people in their lives.
Of the fifteen songs on this compilation from various kindie artists, I am most fond of two which stand out for their very different points of view on the subject, but equally awesome sound.
CMP favorite Mary Kaye serves up Mean Ogre, a tune written from the point of the kid who just feels so angry, she doesn’t want to be nice and polite and kind. With a happy pop beat, her distinctive voice adds a freshness to the perfect song for the three-tantrum day.
Contrasting Mary Kaye’s refusal to cooperate, our much-loved duet Renee & Jeremy are practically singing a love song to our wee ones with the upbeat Wishing Well. Starting like a quiet hymn, this should be the song we send all our kids out the door with every morning. The harmonies and the lyrics will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Consider it the yin to Mary Kaye’s yang. –Christina
