While there’s still this stereotype out there that moms are those people who call you to ask how to keep the VCR from flashing 12:00–and in fact still have a VCR in the first place–as we all know, moms are on the forefront of the tech revolution. So it’s not surprising that there are now Mother’s Day cards made just for the tech-savvy among us.
The QR Code Mother’s Day card is pretty darn adorable. Scan the cover and it says You’re the Best! Or for an extra few bucks, get a custom Mother’s Day card complete with your own message, provided it’s under 25 characters.
So Mom, please send money fits. Mom please send $1,000,000 to a numbered account in the Cayman Islands – not so much. But personally, I might stick with something like To the coolest mom ever. –Liz
Find the QR Code Mother’s Day card at the Colorelish Etsy shop. Orders will be shipped starting 5/2–plenty of time for Mother’s day.
If you’re just going to put a small, written message, why use a QR code? It would be much more reasonable to write the message in the card by hand or by type.
I do think QR codes on Mother’s Day cards (and all cards) can have a purpose, though. For example, they could be linked to videos. How nice would it be to be able to scan a QR code on a card and see a video message from the person from whom it was sent? It’s very simple to set something like that up (at least it is on our system), and it’s more useful than mere text.
Feel free to design one, Kaley. We’d love to see it!
