New sneakers, new backback, new pencils..yes, the new school year is starting up for the kiddos. But this week, we’re going way, w-a-y back for a Chuck Berry song that has been rocking kids out the door for over fifty years.
Chuck Berry’s School Day (Ring Ring Goes the Bell) has got such great rhythm and fun lyrics, you can forgive that it isn’t exactly an ode to how wonderful school is. Plus, you can look at it as adding to your kids’ musical education by exposing them to such a classic tune. My kids think it’s pretty cool that they’re hearing a song that came out even before I was born, which makes it ancient history to them.
Just don’t try to do Mr. Berry’s infamous duckwalk before your second cup of coffee. Trust me on this one. –Christina
