It’s been fifty years since Peter, Paul & Mary recorded Puff, the Magic Dragon, based on a poem by Lenny Lipton that tells of the beautiful friendship between a little boy and a dragon in a land called Honah Lee.
And we think this classic song rightfully deserves a place in our kids’ music collection.
I especially love this particular recording of Puff, the Magic Dragon which is exactly how I remember it sounding from my childhood: gorgeous harmonies and quiet guitar. Though don’t ask me to sing the lyrics out loud—I still cry at the ending. –Christina
