It’s not often that we have good news for procrastinators, but if you haven’t yet mailed your holiday cards, then today is your lucky day. Because we just discovered 20Stamps, an awesome iOS app that lets you design your own customized photo stamps, right from your phone.
To get started, choose a photo from your camera roll, or your Facebook or Instagram account. Then customize the look of your stamp with different filters, pinch zoom to enlarge it, or switch between portrait and landscape orientation for your stamp. Finally, select the postal rate for your stamp — first class letter, postcard, or rates for larger or odd-sized envelopes.
Of course customized photo stamps like these are going to cost a bit extra. A single sheet of 20 first class stamps will run $22.95, which is definitely a premium. I like the idea of using these stamps on postcards, so they’re stuck right on your holiday greeting (and much less likely to be tossed inadvertently). Plus it brings the price down to about a dollar per stamp.
Beyond the holidays, 20Stamps customized photo stamps could be fun for birthday party invitations featuring the birthday boy or girl, or for thank you notes, with a picture from the gathering. Such a cool personal touch for extra special events.
While you’ll need to upgrade to priority or express delivery to receive your stamps by Christmas, I wouldn’t give the side-eye to a card in my mailbox on December 26, or even later. Lovely personal mail from friends is welcome any time of year, especially when it’s adorned with a cool stamp.
