With their great climbing branches, ability to provide cool shade on a hot day, and the leaf piles they supply in the fall, it’s no wonder that our kids love to play around trees every chance they get. So I’m especially liking one thoughtful song about trees by NYC singer, songwriter, and yoga teacher Lianne Bassin which encourages kids to pay special attention to our leafy neighbors.
From her new album Breathe In: Children’s Songs for Mindfulness and Awareness, the song Trees is a pretty tune with layered harmonies and quick hand-drum beat. And her gentle reminder to look all around, so much can be found is a perfect one for us to consider on these days when we can spend our time outside, surrounded by trees.
