For those of us who use multiple Instagram accounts — say you have a personal and a business account, or maybe you have access to your teen’s account — it’s been a gift from heaven this week that at last, as with Facebook and Twitter, you can now easily manage multiple accounts without signing out. If you’re wondering how to get it set up, it’s not entirely as intuitive as you’d think so here’s a step-by-step tutorial.

How to add and manage multiple Instagram accounts | Cool Mom Tech

1. Once logged into your account, click on the settings icon at the top right

2. Scroll all the way to the bottom, where you’ll see “Add Account.” If you don’t see it, keep scrolling.

3. A log-in screen will pop up. Add your additional account information

4. You’ll now have both accounts available to you without logging in and out again! Click the caret symbol (the upward arrow) next to your account name to bring up a drop-down menu that allows you to switch between accounts or now add additional accounts easily. You can currently add up to 5.

5. Very important note: Now in the bottom nav bar, you will see the avatar of the account you are currently using. This is super smart, should you be scrolling through a feed and liking or commenting on photos with one account that you might not like with the other. It also gives you the ability to toggle accounts from that icon. And as a bonus, before you post anything it will say “posting from Cool Mom Picks” just as a triple failsafe measure, which is great.

Anyone who runs a brand’s social media account and accidentally tweeted or posted a personal message from the wrong account will know just how important it is to get in the habit of checking that avatar and message before you post, comment or like!

Hope this makes things easier for lots of you.

As for Pinterest, no word yet about whether they’ll follow suit, but not holding our breaths.
