Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard about The Instant Pot. It even recently got coverage on NPR. (We knew you when, Instant Pot). But a lot of people don’t really know exactly what it does, and if they really truly need it in their kitchen.
The TL;DR? It’s a bunch of your favorite kitchen gadgets, all in one. That means it takes the place of a pressure cooker, a rice cooker, a slow cooker… the list goes on. You can even sauté in it, which as you can guess, cuts out a whole lot of stovetop use too. Make hard boiled eggs, yogurt, plus cook meat from frozen to on-the-plate in minutes.
Our food editor (and self-proclaimed kitchen gadget addict) took a close look at The Instant Pot and shared exactly what it does (and doesn’t do) to help you decide whether it’s right for your family. Plus, she’s got a bunch of easy Instant Pot dinner recipes to help get you started if you decide to take the plunge.
