Remember that song, “Parents Just Don’t Understand?” Definitely a blast from the past, but every generation of kids thinks the same thing about their parents. What’s different about Generation Z–aka the “Net Generation”–is that it’s not just our kids’ lives we have to understand, but how they’re navigating a world with Facebook, sexting and cyberbullying.

On the heels of the new Facebook family safety center, we’ve come across another helpful online safety resource that parents will want to bookmark.

The Verizon Parental Controls Center is an information-rich destination for articles, informational videos and tutorials to help us learn how to keep kids safe in the digital age. They’ve partnered with experts in the industry including Common Sense Media, ConnectSafely.org, Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) and others to bring you a great range of information, and links to other sites.I like that you can IM or email the articles easily, should you find one that your kid needs to read too. And I’m appreciative that this is not a rah-rah Verizon site, with constant attempts to get your buy-in to their service. Of course, there’s Verizon branding but I really find it authentic in its attempt to educate. –Jeana
