My kids love to doodle. Pen, pencil, crayon, whatever the writing implement and whatever the paper surface (yes, even mortgage statements). If they were just a tad older, I’d put that doodling talent to good use for the annual doodle contest put on by Google. Especially because the prize is pretty darn awesome.

This Doodle 4 Google
contest is a search for the kid in K-12 who can draw the most imaginative doodle for Google’s famous home page logo, while answering the question, “What I’d like to do someday…” I love the idea of getting kids to flex their creative muscles while also thinking about what they want to do when they grow up. (FYI–I wanted to be a sports broadcaster
and/or marine biologist. Writer comes close, right?)

The best part is that the winner will receive a $15,000 scholarship and a $25,000 technology grant for his or her school. All the details can be found on the Google blog, but get cracking–entries need to be postmarked by March 16, 2011. Oh, and Whoopi Goldberg is one of the guest judges. That alone is reason enough to enter. -Jeana
