Shine and the Moonbeams

Ever since I first heard Shine and the Moonbeams perform at Kindiefest a year ago, I’ve been a huge fan of their sound and cannot wait until they can get a full-length CD produced. I’m not the only one who thinks so either, as evidenced by the number of times their lead singer can be found on CD’s from Dan Zanes to Secret Agent 23 Skidoo.

In the meantime though, we can all help them realize their dream by grabbing a copy of the song that got me hooked.

High Five showcases Shawana Kemp’s lush, soulful voice which tells the story of a good day gone wrong, but then turned back around again with a little positive thinking.

And not only is the music really powerful, I feel strongly that we should do more to support diversity in the kids’ music scene. Because we need more bands like Shine and the Moonbeams to inspire and touch our kids, no matter what their color. –Christina
