When I was growing up, dinosaurs roamed the earth. Or so my kids think. But then, it’s true if you consider plastic radios dinosaurs, because every kitchen I visited had a radio on the counter. My grandmother’s was set so low it was barely a hum while we made sugar cookies. And it was neon pink. Now, look how far we’ve come- with radios.

We always turn up the tunes to bake cookies, and it’s not always on Spotify either (I know: tech blasphemy), so I love the idea of having this pretty wooden iPhone Phone Radio Dock on the kitchen counter. Made of beechwood and brass, it’s built solid and totally old school–your phone itself provides the power and speakers, but the dock makes it look gorgeous doing so while hiding the cord for recharges. You can even tip it back like we used to do for slumber party pajama dancing.

I’m dating myself again, aren’t I?

The Radio Dock comes with a free app that’ll hook your phone up with local radio stations so you can scan that FM dial during commercials. Just know that if your grandmother is as tech-unsavvy as mine, she’ll come into your kitchen and start looking for dials. And the flour sifter.-Delilah

Find out more about the iPhone Radio Dock at the Areware site. It’s currently slated to ship November 1, so enter your email to get an alert when it’s available. Just in time for holiday baking!
