With holiday car travel hitting its peak this week (oh lord, I’m fearing I-95 on Wednesday), we know that the iPad has become the new DVD player–a good way to keep the kids occupied, happy, and of course, quiet.
Here, just a few of the cool gadgets we’ve found recently that can make it easier to keep the iPad hung on the car seat with care, with hopes that the destination soon will be there. –Liz
Griffin Cinema Seat
We
always love Griffin’s sturdy, thoughtfully designed techcessories and
the Cinema Seat (also shown above) is no exception. It’s as simple as
popping your iPad in the case, then hooking the elastic strap around the
driver’s side seat. And it’s wildly affordable. ($14.99 from our

The CoulVue iPad Mount
This
is an especially great choice if you’ve got more than one kid in the
back seat, since it mounts between the two front seats and has excellent
swivel and adjustability. We recently reviewed it and we’re 100% sold.

GripDaddy Headrest Mounts
While we haven’t tried this one out ourselves yet, this looks like a decent bet if you use the iPad in the car a lot.
You have to install a device onto the back of the headrest, which seems
to take a little more effort than most. But it does look wildly secure
once it’s on. See the video for a helpful demo. ($59.95)
iPadKet
This
system is like an elastic mount that goes over the headrest, with a
slot that the iPad snaps into securely. I like the idea that the elastic
anchors your device vertically, which seems like it will give it more
stability than the ones that snap on horizontally. ($49.99)
