As you might think, you simply flip the switch to turn it on and off; even a young child could figure that one out. The small LED light runs on 3 AAA batteries--no worrying about what essential thing you're going to have to unplug to get it into an outlet. And it's only a few inches wide making it great for travel, or just tucking away in a drawer to bring out when little guests come to visit. Lovely example of simple design.
