A last minute donation for good: Your frequent flyer miles

Donate frequent flyer miles to help children fulfill dreams through Make-a-Wish and TripIt

I think a subscription to TripIt Pro is a fantastic last-minute gift for any frequent traveler. In fact, an alert from them recently helped me score a $300 refund (!) when an airfare I had purchased dropped significantly. So yeah. That subscription paid for itself right there. However TripIt is doing something else for the holidays that I think is mighty awesome: Partnering with Make-A-Wish Foundation to help grant some bigger wishes than toys and gift cards.

As you can imagine, 75% of the Make-A-Wish dreams include airline travel so it’s really a perfect partnership. You can participate by donating your own frequent flyer miles to help send families of seriously ill children on a trip of a lifetime. You can also make a direct donation; this link is specifically for the Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area, where TripIt is located.

Those donations help kids like Lindsey, who was diagnosed with brain cancer, parasail, horseback ride, and zipline her way around Hawaii with her family. Or  3-year-old Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia patient Poema (above) go to the ultimate place where dreams come true–as you can imagine–Disney World.

Last year, TripIt users donated over one million miles. But considering 2.5 billion miles would be needed to grant all 50,000 round trip tickets to fulfill every wish, I’m hoping they can do even better this year. Maybe you’ll be part of that.

Donate your frequent flyer miles to Make-A-Wish families through TripIt. You don’t have to be a TripIt user to donate, but it’s still a really awesome travel app worth checking out.

And psst…if you haven’t read up on last year’s big story about five-year-old Lukemia patient Miles’ wish to be Batkid, it’s worth your time. And maybe a share with your own kids.
