We’ve seen (and owned) many iterations of Amazon’s Kindle e-reader, but finally, after ten years of Kindle devices, they’ve launched a waterproof model, aptly named Oasis. Now, if you’re like “Wait, there already was a Kindle Oasis!” you aren’t losing your mind. This is a revamp of that one.

Of course, the big news is that this Kindle is waterproof, like 2 meters of water for 60 minutes kind of waterproof, though it does still use a USB to charge, so it’ll be interesting to see how waterproof they really are. And by waterproof, I mean your kid decided to take it into the bathtub proof.
Another cool new feature is that Audible is built-in, allowing you to connect your headphones or earbuds using Bluetooth and listen to your books, if you so choose.
With 12 LEDs and a light sensor (to adapt to the changes in light when you move from your living to your bedroom, for example), it’s definitely the Ferrari of e-readers, not just in features but in price. It’s a whopping $299.99.

But hey, if you’re a serious reader (or know one who is), and you don’t want all the bells and whistles of a tablet, which by the way, won’t be waterproof, this could be the ultimate holiday gift. And you’ll get it just in time, too. The Kindle Oasis ships on October 31, so you can enjoy a good book with your Halloween candy, and you won’t have to worry if you accidentally spill wine on it. In the bathtub. Wait, just me?
