I have always been a huge Beatrix Potter fan, so I find it thrilling that my own kids are just as enthralled with the artwork and easy prose. And now they’ve got an extra reason to enjoy her works: One of my favorite tales now comes to life beautifully on iPad, right in time for Easter.
Our friends from Loud Crow have just launched PopOut! The Tale of Benjamin Bunny as an ebook and it’s as lovely as the teeny hardback book I used to read as a kid.
You can either read it yourself and let your kiddos hit words they’re interested in hearing, or use “Read to Me” which features a pleasant British-accented female voice. As they listen, your kids can play with beautifully translated illustrations by pulling tabs, spinning the wheels, and popping the spring mounted objects just like an actual pop-out book. And while I love that they picked Debussy’s Claire de Lune as the background music, you can easily turn it down or completely off if it starts to bother you.
This app is definitely on the pricey side, but it’s really one of the best interactive e-books I’ve ever seen; and one that so tastefully pays homage to the great Beatrix Potter. Just ask my kids who have asked me to read it every single day for the last week. -Kristen
You can purchase The Tale of Benjamin Bunny for iPad. Android users can buy the app through Google Play.
The tale of Peter rabbit and the tale of squirrel nut kin
The Tale of Peter Rabbit is a favourite for me and my kids. They are both mischief makers so we can all relate to this book!
Peter Rabbit or Jemima Puddle Duck!!
My kids love Beatrix Potter. Our favorite is a tie between Squirrel Nutkin and Miss Tiddlemouse. Such great stories!!
I have a son named Benjamin and The Tale of Benjamin Bunny is our favorite! It is a great choice to make interactive, with all of the hiding and sneaking going on, I can’t wait to see it!
Jemima Puddleduck…I loved it as a kid, and my son does too. And, at 21 months, he already uses our iPad and Kindle!
The tale of Peter rabbit, of course! Thanks.
Peter Rabbit. The small format with the green cloth cover and shiny pages. It was always as much about the story as the tactile experience.
Peter Rabbit is a no-brainer, but the Flopsy Bunnies was always a favorite of mine. I can’t believe I haven’t read these to my daughter yet!
My personal favorites are The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin and the Tale of Two Bad Mice. I’ve always adored those naughty rodents ;). My 2.5 yer old daughter prefers The tale of Mrs. Tiddlemouse.
My favorite has always been the Tale of Peter Rabbit. It was one of the 1st books my girls got as a gift and then we went on from there and even bought the tea set
I remember getting a Beatrix Potter mini book set when I was young that I cherished for years. Peter Rabbit was always my favorite. So glad to hear that these are now offered digitally!
The tale of Peter rabbit is still my favorite! This cute little guy reminds me of my childhood.
Peter Rabbit, my daughter has loved bunnies since she was one and it is always the first book she picks up for me to read.
Definitely Peter Rabbit! My daughter loves it and we read it every day ! She loves hearing about his misadventures!
The Tale of Peter Rabbit, hands down!
Peter Rabbit! Love them all because of the beautiful illustrations, the small size, and the charming stories.
