We are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a bright tune by one of our favorite bilingual groups, Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band. (And if you don’t know them yet well…they won the 2014 Grammy. So get on it!)

De Colores is a well-known traditional Spanish folk song that has been performed by everyone from Los Lobos, to Joan Baez, to Raffi, but I especially love Lucky Diaz’s arrangement which features Tejano musician David Lee Garza on accordion and Lucky’s smooth, clear voice. You don’t need to understand the lyrics to fall in love with this catchy tune, though I’m willing to bet there’s lots of you who can sing every word. Maybe even lots of your kids.

Download a copy of De Colores from Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band’s album Aqui, Alla for Hispanic Heritage Month which runs from September 15-October 15.

And Bay Area families, don’t miss your chance to hear Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band in concert this Tuesday, September 30 for their VIVA! Latino Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at the San Francisco Public Library.
