Back in the day, if you wanted to sing silly kids songs while banging a tom-tom and moving to the rhythm you had to sign up for an expensive kid’s music program. Today, well, you still have to do that. But in the age of apps like Pandora and Slacker radio, there’s also an app to help get your kids moving wherever you are.
The Kindermusik Radio app gives parents access to hundreds of songs, stories and activities right on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. It’s truly impressive, super easy to use, and will save you about $244.01 on an actual Kindermusik class.
Basically it has five stations and music ranges from songs about animals, bounces, and rhymes, to a story option. The music stations even allow you to see lyrics and suggest activities or movements to do while you listen, or choose an instrument to play along with the tune by tapping on the screen.
Naturally you are able to buy a favorite song or album from iTunes with the touch of a button. You can even email a lullaby at naptime as a special gift to your child if you’re not home.
My advice–while you’re in the phase where you have to listen to corny “kids music,” this is the way to do it. And comfort yourself knowing that someday your kids will switch to Pandora. -Betsy
Download the Kindermusik Radio app for $1.99 at the iTunes store. It’s currently available for iPHone, iPad, and iPhone touch.
