Every time I’ve tried to lose my postpartum baby weight (that’s uh, four times for those of you keeping count) I find I have the most success when I keep a journal of what I’m eating and how I’m working out. So as I try to lose those last pesky five pounds, you can bet I’ve got my eye on a soon-to-be released product from Jawbone that looks like it’ll be a cool health gadget for busy moms like me.
The Jawbone Up is an electronic bracelet that tracks your movement and sleep activity and then relays them to an app where you can add your food intake, and then get tips, suggestions, and support on how to live a little healthier. It’s not necessarily a new concept, with gadgets like FitBit or Garmin watches providing a similar service, however, the difference is that Jawbone is providing consumers with something much less cumbersome, a little more stylish, and cheaper than a Garmin. Very smart.
While I wouldn’t wear the Up just as a bracelet, I do love how it shows you how much activity you’re getting and how much sleep you’re not (ah, babies) without having to attach and subsequently lose yet another device. Gadgets masked as jewelry though, I’m all for it. -Kristen
The Jawbone Up will be available for purchase later this year. Tell us — would you use it?
I think that would all depend on how much it is. I like the concept, but the tools I’ve seen like FitBit are just a little too expensive for me to invest in it just yet. I’m also not entirely sure how accurate they are either. I would have to do a bit more research/comparison. Looks cool though!
for sure! As a busy mom, I don’t hae time to keep track myslef…this is a fantastic idea. Ita what I would need to push myself to be more active, but to sleep more as well.
I would LOVE to use this gadget. I think it would be really helpful because my husband thinks that all I do is sleep when really I am busy taking caring of our son. I also think it would help motivate me to work out more because I would want to see the increase in activity. I have a feeling this little device is going to have a HUGE price tag though.
I’m definitely intrigued. I’ll be eager for reviews once folks actually try it – because unfortunately, each time I read a review of a thing like this, people report they are inaccurate or sweat makes them stop working or other such things. I’m willing to pay more for a product that works, but I haven’t yet found one with majority positive reviews. Fingers crossed!
I’m excited for it to come out! I’m on my second fitbit and it is great, but has many tech issues and glitches – it has also fallen off and been lost. My entire office uses the fitbit and it has become quite the competition.
