Can you recommend any preschool foreign language apps for Android for my kids? -Kathy

Hi Kathy, thanks for your question! You didn’t mention if there’s a specific language you’re interested in, but here are a few picks that offer great apps for younger ones looking to explore another tongue.

Toddler Spanish app for Android on Cool Mom Tech

Want your little one to ask for agua instead of water? Check out Toddler Spanish (above) which will help them learn about 100 basic words. Each word is accompanied by a photo and an audio pronunciation so kids can grasp the word quickly, or muy rapido, in this case. ($0.99, Google Play)

French Baby Flashcards for Android on Cool Mom Tech

If it’s French your child is learning, French Baby Flashcards app is a good choice for building a growing vocabulary of words that include animals, foods, numbers, shapes, body parts and more. For added effect, some of the flashcards have embedded sounds like the roar of a lion to accompany the photo. (Free, Google Play)

Children TV app for Android on Cool Mom Tech

While the Children TV app isn’t a foreign language learning app per se, it does feature lots of different age-appropriate YouTube videos in foreign languages including French, Spanish, Polish, even Russian. So after your kids have gotten their flashcards down pat, they can watch these little animated videos and try and grasp what’s going on. (Free, Google Play)

I also have to add that one of our foreign language favorites for iOS, Gus on the Go, is supposedly working on an Android version as well, so keep your eye out for that in the near future! Jeana
