Have you ever been somewhere, sitting through an event or activity, and just wishing you could hit the fast-forward button on it all? Well, last week Instagram released a new video app that is as close as we’re ever going to get to that. It’s called Hyperlapse, and it’s so darn cool.
The Hyperlapse app makes it easy for you to capture high-quality time lapse videos on your iPhone, even while you’re moving. So your little guy taking off on his bike sans training wheels for the first time? You can film that while trotting down the street behind him. And with the app’s built-in stabilization technology, nausea-inducing shaky-cam videos are no more. The result instead is a fast, time-lapse vid with a rad cinematic look like Marty made it.
(Uh, that’s Marty Scorsese, not McFly. I’d say I’ve watched Goodfellas enough to be on a first-name basis.)

Hyperlapse has a clean, super simple interface: there’s one button to push to record and that’s it. After you shoot your video, you can adjust the playback to different speed–up to 12 times the regular speed–then hit the green check mark to save your brilliance to your camera roll, which is also from where you can choose to share your vid to your Instagram account.
And the very best part about all of this is: The Hyperlapse app is totally free. You don’t even need to sign up for an account in order to create a video which is always a plus for any app, we think.
